The use of composite resin material as a direct restorative for posterior restorations has dramatically increased in the marketplace. With various materials emerging as a viable alternative to traditional techniques and the development of new resin compositions to assist clinicians with simplified techniques, it is easy to get confused and fall behind.
What materials will you advocate for use in your practice? What has the literature been revealing on materials in current use? Should practitioners change their current techniques? What preparation design will you utilize?
This lecture/hands-on will attempt to make sense of all of the products and techniques available in today’s marketplace and will focus on materials and their applications as well as a brief review of some of the literature. Emphasis will be placed on new developments in the composite area as well as outline what developments to watch for in the coming years.

- Various etching principles and how they are applied to composite resins.
- How to place a flawless Class I, II, and IV posterior restoration.
- Proper placement techniques that maximize clinical outcomes and esthetics.
- How to select and place an appropriate matrix system.

Many disease processes can cause the loss of vertical dimension of occlusion. Attrition, Germ, Bulimia, Bruxism and Acid Erosion can all contribute to the process. Identifying and treating the condition requires proper diagnosis, jaw positioning and case design.
This program will give a brief overview of a number of techniques and materials that can be used to restore vertical dimension. A step-by-step process to restore vertical dimension will be outlined and discussed. Particular attention will be paid to determining etiology and difficulties clinician may face in restoring vertical dimension.

The focus and awareness of esthetic dentistry has never been greater. Today’s patients have heightened expectations and desires. Understanding the desires and meeting the patient’s demands has become increasingly more complex and challenging. Case design and case presentation will be an integral portion of the course.
This course will review the principles of facial esthetics, smile design and provide practitioners the tools necessary to deliver remarkably beautiful results. Participants will apply esthetic principles and philosophies to designing an esthetic result with a variety of different techniques. Anterior veneer and crown design will be reviewed. Provisional restorations and bonding techniques will be explored. Final delivery and finishing will be discussed and practiced.
Course Objectives
- Learn how to fabricate and deliver a smile design and simulation.
- Learn and practice various veneer preparations and when to use them clinically.
- Practice provisional fabrication and placement techniques.
- Learn how to adjust and bond final restorations using state-of-the-art materials.
About the Speaker
Marc Geissberger, DDS, MA taught at University of the Pacific for 30 years and served as department chair of Integrated Reconstructive Dental Sciences for 15 years. He ran Pacific’s prestigious complex and esthetic rehabilitation program. He is a fellow of the American Dental Education Association’s leadership institute, researcher, as well as a published author in the areas of dental materials, contemporary fixed prosthodontics, esthetic dentistry. He has lectured nationally and internationally in the areas of adhesive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, photography, ceramic, fixed prosthodontics and treatment planning. He serves as a consultant for many dental materials companies and helps guide product development.
During his 30 years in academia he has maintained a private practice geared toward restorative dentistry with his brother and fellow Pacific alum, Dr. Jeffrey Geissberger. He believes his continual involvement in providing patient care as well as a role in academia has given him a unique balance that allows him to blend the best of both worlds.
His goal is to provide educational experience for your group in a non-intimidating format that focuses on providing the clinician with the latest techniques and information that can be immediately incorporated into everyday practice. Presentations tend to be rich in information and Dr. Geissberger pledges to both entertain and educate simultaneously. All topics can be customized to the specific interests of the group and many topics can be paired with a hands-on workshop.
