Favorite travel destination:
The mountains! We love to go skiing in Colorado or Utah.
Favorite dental product:
Ivoclar Vivadent Adhese Universal VivaPen. It is such an easy and predictable delivery system for bonding with minimal to no waste. When used properly there is rarely post op sensitivity with our composite restorations or bonded crowns.
How I chose my practice location:
My first practice was an acquisition from a retiring dentist. I spent a lot of time with him in his office to be sure it was the right fit. We shared the same values, which is SO important. I loved the amazing dentistry I saw happening in this rural town outside of Kansas City. It was more advanced than places I shadowed in Overland Park or on the Plaza! I felt excited to be there as I learned from my mentor that you could do excellent, advanced dentistry anywhere you chose. Also the numbers made sense. My second and third practices were startups, which were much riskier. I did everything from scheduling at all hours of the day, including weekends because I never wanted to miss a new patient opportunity to doing prophies and SRP until we had enough hygiene to support a hygienist. You have to be humble and work hard with a startup to lessen the overhead. It all pays off! Also it has made me understand and appreciate all that my team does to keep the office running smoothly.
One piece of advice:
Patients don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. Go from the heart and do for them what you would do for your own family member and you will never lose sleep at night. This mentality guides me to the right decisions for my patient and brings me a lot of happiness.
What drew you to the profession:
My dad was a dentist in Wichita and I loved working for him!
How do you like to decompress away from the practice:
Traveling, spending time with my husband and three kids. Also a random way I love to decompress is organizing things! It's very therapeutic.
Achievement(s) through your dental journey you're most proud of:
Getting my MAGD in 2020.
